The Italian community beyond ALMA B2

16/10/2025

On the occasion of the “ALMA Band 2 Workshop” organized by the European ARC and hosted by the Italian node of the ALMA Regional Centre in Bologna, at the Area della Ricerca from 24 to 26 February 2026,
the IT-ARC  node is pleased to announce the discussion session:

“The Italian community beyond ALMA B2: ideas and perspectives for future technical and scientific engagement in ALMA”
Thursday, 26 February 2026, 15:30–18:30
in presence in Room 216 – Area della Ricerca, Bologna and online https://meet.google.com/sue-bwvk-axf

The meeting aims to bring together members of the Italian community who have so far contributed to the technological development of the Band 2 receivers, as well as those planning their scientific use, in order to identify—within the framework of the ALMA 2030 roadmap and the longer-term ALMA 2040 perspectives—possible future development goals on which to build a national collaboration, building on the success achieved with Band 2 thanks also to the efforts initiated under i-ALMA and beyond.

In particular, the discussion will touch the following topics:
– what is the status of the B2 projects for the Italian community?
– is ALMA B2 a reliable bridge for synergies among radio and mm bands?
– which opportunities could be foreseen for new receivers for ALMA WSU or ALMA2040, and which funding channels could be persecuted?

Short contributions in the form of brief presentations may be considered upon request.

To participate,  please fill the following registration form .

No registration fee is due.
