IT-ARC training events:

Tutorial on the GalaPy SED fitting tool

by Tommaso Ronconi

June 12th 2026, h. 10.00

The event can be followed in presence at INAF-IRA (Bologna) 4th floor, seminar room, upon registration (see below), and remotely at meet.google.com/sue-bwvk-axf

Rationale

GalaPy is an open source, extensible API for modelling and fitting the Spectral Energy Distribution (SED) of galaxies from the X-ray to the radio band, as well as the evolution of their components and dust attenuation/reradiation.
It provides functions, classes and terminal commands for Bayesian inference of galaxy properties from panchromatic photometric data, as well as for the analysis and simulation of galaxies spectral properties.
GalaPy can be installed by typing:

$ pip install galapy-fit (pypi.org/galapy-fit)

or downloaded from GitHub (https://github.com/TommasoRonconi/galapy.git).
Documentation is available at https://galapy.readthedocs.io/en/latest/index.html
During the event we will present the main capabilities and features of the tool and show its application on real data.
Participants are invited to bring their own laptops and try to follow the hands-on tutorial.
Support will be immediately provided to people in presence, while remote support will be given on a best effort.

We remember that Support on archival ALMA data and computing resources for their analysis can be requested from the Italian ARC node via e-mail to help-desk@alma.inaf.it, or through the ALMA help-desk.

For information on all ALMA-related matters and other Italian ARC events see our webpage at https://arc.ira.inaf.it/

Registration

All participants (both in presence and remotely are requested to register by Wednesday 10th June – Registration is not yet open. –

The event can be attended in presence at INAF-IRA (Bologna) 4th floor seminar room.
